Last year I bought a battery operated hamster from "Five and Below". My daughter (5) LOVES it. I find it a bit annoying (noise), but it looks similar to the Zhu Zhu and only costs $[...]. (At the time I hadn't heard of Zhu Zhu). It comes with a excercise ball and the little thing goes and goes - the ball allows it to change directions.
We've given it for birthday gifts and the other kids love it too.
It looks like the Zhu Zhu has MORE features, - but really...how can you compare $5 to $50 for a fur covered battery.

I bought this toy off of a friend who happened to buy a few in Walmart for 10 bucks each. They are barely worth that price and MOST definitely not worth 40 dollars. I got them for my daughter, and would have hurt someone if they sent this to me in the mail for 40 dollars. Cute, yes, fun, probably, just not for that much money.
Don't give in, get your kid something else, and get the zhu zhu later (of if you can- from a friend who isn't looking to make a quick buck off of you)

I'm eight and got this for Christmas, this is my review. Chunk is my zhu zzhu's name.I think he's the cutest one but seems to go slower than the other zhu zhus even when batterys are new. My dad had to tighten the wheels once.But a quick fix. Love him I think he's cute but is way more slower. But he's good in he ball and in the world. It lasts a long time befor you have to replace batteries, better than some toys. And makes speacil noise when sleeping!Customer Review: The world has gone mad!

My four year old loves Zhu Zhu pets but not enough for me to pay 3x the retail price. I cannot imagine that anyone would be suckered into such a rip-off. I am searching target, toys-r-us and wal-mart and have fould a few pieces. If I don't get everything before Christmas I will save it for her birthday. Stores won't be able to give these things away after Christmas. Don't get me wrong, the product is great but NOT $30.00+ dolalrs great.Customer Review: didn't know the real price is only $8

I had no idea when I bought this that the actual price is only $8 and I paid almost three times that much just because it is in short supply..my granddaughter wanted one and that's the only reason I went ahead and purchased it..it's a shame to be taken advantage of because of the supply/demand situation..from now on I will be more conscious of what the actual price is supposed to be before I order something from Amazon like this again.
