I had very low expectations for these due to consumer whiplash out there and was gladly pleasanly surprised. I think they are made much sturdier than I was expecting, they were a bit smaller than I origionally expected but are really very cute. We got a chuckle out of hearing them randomly moo or cockadoodle doo. My 7 year old and 2 year old spent a lot of time chrismas morning just chsing them around as they explored the floors. I think it is rather cute how they scurry about, turing around and such.
Santa found these for a very reasonable price and would never stoop to support 3rd party markups. The only people to blame for such mark-ups are the consumers out there clamouring to pay higher prices. Not Amazon and not the toy makers, because they are not getting paid more for those marked up prices the middle man is making the $.

Okay guys. . .I understand that there is price gouging going on but the actual toy hamsters are great! I gave these hamsters and some of the accessories to five different children and they absolutely loved them! There are rumors of these toys being poisonous. Only one the dark brown hamster was in question and the FDA had a retest and determined that the company making the allegations of poison improperly tested therefore the FDA, satisfied that there is no risk) did not recall the toy. As for the allegations of these toys being dangerous, any toy (even the safest toy) can be a hazard under certain conditions. I would not purchase these toys for the three and under age group, as there are small parts and the wheels under the hamsters are strong and could pinch little fingers, but otherwise I think these toys are wonderful!Customer Review: MY NEPHEW LOVED IT

This item was delivered quickly with AMAZONS' super saver shipping and the rest really doesn't matter, because my Nephew loved receiving his white electronic hamster. My opinion on how much it was really worth or the length of time he didn't play with the toy is meaningless in comparison to the smile the gift produced the eagerly expecting four year old! He had his battery operated hamster named chunk for Christmas & he played with it well in to the night. The toy came with the batteries, which was a big plus. For those that want to concentrate on the price gouging aspect; Yes, the product is imported and overpriced but isn't this the American way? Although the prices are out of this world sometimes, you can always count on Amazon to have that HAVE TO HAVE IT NOW TOY!!! If you don't have to have it now feel free to shop store to store to store to store until you can find it. If you can afford it, Amazon will have it!!! This little hamster has brought us loads of fun!! The accessories make it even better. Have extra AA Batteries on hand because this only comes with demo batteries, so you might even have to change the batteries before you play with it for the first time. Our favorite accessory so far is the adventure ball. You can bet this is going to the be the #1 Hot Toy for 2009!Customer Review: Annoying, yet strangely lovable

My daughter really wanted one of these for her birthday so we got one. I will admit, us adults were not all that impressed with it. It was cute for about 2 minutes and then I kinda wanted to find a robot cat to take care of the annoying little thing. It makes little noises and when it runs into something, the nose hits and it makes more noises and goes other places. Fortunately, my 7 year old daughter is way more impressed with it. She and her friends think it's "so cute". I will say it does get more interesting if you have the house pieces and other things for it to interact with. Overall, a novelty, but the kids really like it.
