I purchased this item as an extra surprise after Christmas for my 11 year old granddaughter and she really enjoys the little hamster. She is an advanced student in school so her mentality is on just loves this little hamster city. I saw them when my niece bought them for her children ages 4-7 and they loved them also. Track pieces don't connect properly and the thing is pretty much junk. My five year old niece messed with this for roughly 20 minutes. I got her LittleBigPlanet as well. She would rather watch ME PLAY A VIDEOGAME then play with this. Don't be fooled. Just because they sell like crazy, doesn't mean it's worth it. Seriously, get a classic connection toy if you must. We've got it about a month ago. My kids are still playing with zhu zhu pets every day. Amazing! They are having great fun!
We started with funhouse and one hamster, and end up building the whole city.
My little one even sleeps with one of them, so we had to take batteries out of Nugget.
I recommended this toy to all my friends with kids from 3 to 8 y.o.

Simple entertaining product for a reasonable price. In this age of $100 plus toys it was nice to see the hot holiday item be this simple and cheap. Smart marketing idea to keep price reasonable in this economy. Accessories are a bit cheaply made but that was not unexpected for the price. Great idea for a family that cannot have or is not ready for a real pet.

My daughter really wanted a Zhu Zhu pet for Christmas so we bought one for her. She played with it for about 20 minutes and now it sits around taking up space. The Zhu Zhu pets are cute but offer very little interactive playtime so they don't hold kids interest for very long. Cost outweighs the benefit of these toys and I would not recommend making the investment.
