Toys and Games Reviews of Cepia 16-Inch Glo-E Magical Bear with Pretty Little Lily Book and RF WandCustomer Review: Perfect Summary: 5 Stars
I love this bear. It works great, and is brighter than I expected. I've actually used it as a flashlight a few times as I was walking into a dark room to go to sleep. No need to turn on the light, just lay down and sleep with the bear, since it has a button and goes off after 15min anyway.
I made an alteration to the bear, however, so I can bring it to raves and parties. I attached straps to its ears and feet so it can sit on my back like a backpack. Also, I took apart an iPod dock/stereo system and put the speakers in its head. the circuitry and battery fit fine among the bear's stuffing, and he still feels completely soft. The music sounds great. not muffled at all, though his head vibrates with the speakers a little. I have a headphone jack coming out his back for the audio, although in the future, I might want to add a bluetooth receiver so the bear can be sewn completely shut except for charging the stereo inside, or replacing the light's batteries.
The batteries for the bear's lights are 3 AAs, and of course, I recommend using rechargeables. You should use rechargeables for everything, really. You will save so much stress, time, and money by not having to drive to the store and spend your monthly $$$ allowance on batteries. It's a consumer scam where to have to buy one-use batteries. In a world where we are all smarter, everyone would just charge their own batteries.
Imagine your laptop or cellphone where you had to buy a new battery every time it went out.
Anyway, the book sucks ass. The art and the story are retarded, and there are way too many pages, but might keep your 5 year old interested for 2 minutes--once.
The wand is for parents who want to turn the bear off remotely if the kid goes to sleep right away, so it doesn't stay on for the remaining 15min. I don't plan on using it. The button on the bear's hand works great.
The company that makes this bear is out of business, so get it while you can, where you can, and try not to pay much more than $40 for it, cuz that's what I got it for, and I saw it at a shop in person for that price. any more than that, and you might as well take LEDs and insert them into a regular bear yourself.
