Toys and Games Reviews of Chess Teacher

Customer Review: OK, I guess
Summary: 1 Stars

I had an "Educator" Chess Set when I was a kid. It looked just like this one. Big difference was that the pieces of that set were solid plastic where-as in this set they are hollow and open-bottomed. That set had a nice weight and feel to it. This one just seems cheap.

I guess I got what I paid for. Used to be that plastic items where the mark of inexpensive/cheap products. Today, we wouldn't want you to have too much plastic-it would seem tacky.

Customer Review: Fun one on one time
Summary: 5 Stars

I found the game pieces with the proper moves for each piece to be very helpful for my six year old. He plays the game taking his time thinking and planning ahead without asking many questions about the "allowed" moves for the piece. It has made the game with him exciting, he feels more confident, and I love our one on one time together. It is a great teaching set.

Customer Review: Kids Love It!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is such a super way for the kids to learn how all the pieces move. They play with this one all the time. My older one turns her pieces backwards so that she has to rmember how her pieces move without the help, but my younger one can see how his move AND how hers can move too. It seems to help him with his planning of moves.

Customer Review: Great Tool for Teaching Chess
Summary: 5 Stars

I highly recommend this chess set. My 6-year-old was very interested in learning chess, but my husband and I didn't know how to play. This set helped all of us learn together. The best way to learn more complex strategies, like castling, is by playing against good chess players, but this set gave us a great start!

Customer Review: What's not to love?
Summary: 5 Stars

Who cares if it's "flimsy" or doesn't give the values? It's for beginners - 6,7,8 year olds. I think it's harder to remember how they move than what they're worth. And if the set only lasts for a year or two, so what? By then they know how to play and they buy a "real" set. Sheesh.
