Toys and Games Reviews of My First Lab Duo-Scope MicroscopeCustomer Review: Excellent Microscope Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this for our 7 year old son for Christmas. From the reviews I had read I was expecting it to be a good product and was not disappointed. The lighting is very bright and having illumination above or below a specimen makes it much more versatile. My son enjoys switching between the lights while looking at slides. The product has a nice heavy feel and appears to be constructed well. Focusing is easy as the adjustments move smoothly.
Nothing is more frustrating for a kid than a microscope that is difficult to use. It will soon be collecting dust. This one is a joy to use and should provide years of entertainment and learning. It may cost a bit more that some others but it is well worth it.
Customer Review: Great first scope Summary: 5 Stars
I did a lot of searching for a microscope for my 7-year old daughter. I almost bought a USB scope but glad I didn't. I'm pretty impressed with this one. Focus is firm and very smooth. Optics are sound and the upper and lower lights make this very versatile. LED lights are easy on the batteries and no cord is needed to operate. The high power is not usable from above but this is stated in the manual. The slides and include equipment is a nice starter package. My 7-year old is THRILLED with it and I'm pleased with the value for $50. I'm sure we will get many hours of exploration with this scope! The only thing this scope is missing is a good carrying/storage case. The inclusion of that would make this a perfect item!
Customer Review: AMAZING Summary: 5 Stars
This is the best present that you can ever get a kid, if they love science. The kit comes with so many items that it will give you or your child hours of fun and educational entertainment. It is mostly made of metal and isn't made of the tricky metal-looking plastic. It is largish, yet it is very light and you can carry it around(thanks to the battery powered LED light). Many people cant get the 400X magnification working, but the trick is to put it so close to the slide that they're almost, if not, touching. My sister even said that it was similar to the microscopes that they use in biology in high school. If you get it, the box looks like it's one of the cheap plastic microscopes, but don't judge a book by it's cover!
Customer Review: Excellent first microscope! Summary: 5 Stars
My wife and I bought this microscope for our 6 year old son. We elected to not take a microscope from a friend's kid because it was just a toy and you couldn't see anything out of it. Our son is very interested in rocks and minerals and we were afraid that this microscope was going to be a toy as well. We were very surprised. This IS NOT a toy. This exceeds our expectations. The dual lights source option is a fantastic feature. We are constantly looking for new things to put under the lens. The quality of this microscope is great and should last for a long time.
We would strongly urge you to spend the extra money to get this microscope over the other toy microscopes on the market.
Customer Review: terrific starter microscope Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for Christmas for my 7yo daughter. When I tested it before wrapping, one of the lights was out. I called the company directly and received the BEST service. They had a return shipping label emailed to me that day, I sent it out the same day, and they shipped a new one as soon as the old one was entered in tracking. Got it in plenty of time for Christmas.
A note on the high power lens: most scopes require oil immersion for the high power, which is not included. I might try that on my own. A carrying case would be helpful. However this is a wonderful microscope at a great price backed by super service. Lightweight, durable, and no cord limits.
