Customer Review: Too Much Fun

My son (5) loves garbage trucks. Live, pictures, videos, toys, shirts, anything associated to garbage trucks, he loves them. Despite already having 9 decent size garbage trucks, he fell in love with this truck at a friends house. Santa brought him one, and he loved it. Played with in everyday for hours at a time. All other Christmas toys and their wrappers became garbage that he could use in the very realistic garbage truck. The durability of the truck was a huge draw (and a requirement to justify the price) and while I think it is a very durable toy, my son used it so much that the mechanism that controlled the "packing panel" that cleared the garbage out of the "hopper" got misaligned and did not work. Happy to say Amazon sent a new truck and picked up the old one since it was within 30 days without issue (amazing service, I boxed it up and placed it outside my home, UPS picked it up labeled it, and in 2 more days the new one arrived from the North Pole). We put some restrictions on what constitutes garbage, but he still LOVES it and ranks as 1 or 2 out of the 10 trucks he owns.
Also - easiest toy I ever took out of a box, engineering miracle.

We gave this truck to our 22 month old son for Christmas. He's thrilled. The only thing he was disappointed about and I was surprised to see this on a Bruder truck - the doors don't open on the cab of the truck. For the price and all the detail of this toy the doors should open. That's exactly what a young boy wants to do with a realistic looking truck and you'd think Bruder would know that. Aside from that we are very happy with the truck as is our son. He loves to fill his cans with garbage (pieces of paper) and dump them into the back of the truck over and over and he enjoys the large size of the truck, rolling it around the room. We haven't had any pieces or mechanisms break yet but it's only been 2 weeks. Perhaps bigger kids play more roughly with this garbage truck or take it outdoors - I would never allow a child to use this in the backyard. Any toy that's made to look very realistic is going to have finer, smaller details and be more delicate. If you want a rough and tumble toy definitely don't buy these Bruder trucks. These are for imaginative play and exercising fine motor skills.Customer Review: Disappointment

My 4 year old son had been asking for this garbage truck for months. He got it for Christmas. He was so excited when he saw it, however, his smile quickly turned to a scream. He could not get it to stay together. All the parts kept falling off and he got very aggrivated. Everytime he tries to play with the garbage cans the whole back falls off. My husband and I have put this toy back together so many times that I could do it in my sleep. This garbage truck will not operate correctly and is not worth the 60.00 I paid for it. It is now sitting in the corner, where he occasionally pushes it around his playroom. I am just upset that he was so built up about what it could do, and we can't even get the thing to stay together.Customer Review: Great toy truck!

My son just received this garbage truck from his Grandpa today. I agree with some of the other reviews in that this truck may not hold up to rough play, but so far, so good! My 2 1/2 year old son played with it for 2 solid hours and would've played longer had it not been dinner time! My son had no problem figuring out how to attach the garbage cans to the back, and how to operate the various parts. The price is exorbitant, but it's a gift from Grandpa. Thanks to the other reviews, I know to supervise my son while he plays with this truck, and remind him that there are fragile parts, and that he needs to play gently with it. He's pretty good about things like that, so I anticipate this being a fun toy for a long time!Customer Review: Compactor in back of truck is not like the picture

Bought for my son's 3rd birthday. He has other trash trucks and loves them. This one arrived and was opened on his birthday. Although he was happy, I was disappointed. It was not heavy weight plastic, but rather flimsy and brittle. the biggest problems were that the two trash containers do not stay still on the back loader and fall off. they also don't fit in the flimsy slots where they are supposed to be attached to when lifting them for emptying. Also, the compactor is not like a real truck design but two red cheap plastic spiral screw-type mechanism that's totally un-realistic. Wish we didn't tear open the box, so that I could return it.
