My son (5) loves garbage trucks. Live, pictures, videos, toys, shirts, anything associated to garbage trucks, he loves them. Despite already having 9 decent size garbage trucks, he fell in love with this truck at a friends house. Santa brought him one, and he loved it. Played with in everyday for hours at a time. All other Christmas toys and their wrappers became garbage that he could use in the very realistic garbage truck. The durability of the truck was a huge draw (and a requirement to justify the price) and while I think it is a very durable toy, my son used it so much that the mechanism that controlled the "packing panel" that cleared the garbage out of the "hopper" got misaligned and did not work. Happy to say Amazon sent a new truck and picked up the old one since it was within 30 days without issue (amazing service, I boxed it up and placed it outside my home, UPS picked it up labeled it, and in 2 more days the new one arrived from the North Pole). We put some restrictions on what constitutes garbage, but he still LOVES it and ranks as 1 or 2 out of the 10 trucks he owns.
Also - easiest toy I ever took out of a box, engineering miracle.

This fully functional garbage truck features a trash compactor and a back end that tilts up to dump the truck contents. Each truck features tread tires and two small trash bins.For many toddlers and preschool-age children a highlight of the week can be watching the garbage truck stop in front of the house and lift the bins high into the air in all their noisy power and glory. This big, bright green-and-yellow garbage truck from Bruder Toys will provide hours of creative and imaginative play. The six-wheeled plastic truck measures approximately 2 feet long, 6 inches wide, and 10 inches tall. The truck comes with two small, realistic bins in yellow and blue. The two bins hook on to the tailgate, which lifts with a lever. Other turning knobs dump the trash and compact it. This toy could be used as a recycling truck given the recycling symbol on the side, which makes it a great educational toy to introduce environmental consciousness.
