Toys and Games Reviews of Boppy 5-in-1 FunCustomer Review: My first baby gift! Summary: 5 Stars
This was my first baby gift when I was three months pregnant. Of course, I thought it was kinda strange looking, but once my son was born, I must say, I got (and still do get) a lot of use out of it! I highly recommend registering for it, or purchasing it. Here's what I used it for: when my son was first born, I was a breastfeeding mother. It took a lot of strain off my back by allowing him to lay on this and free my arms a little more. It was very comfortable. Then, when my son became a little more alert and wanted a change from being held or laying on the floor (he was a little over a month old), I attached the bar and toys and he could prop himself up and look at the toys and get stimulated by the conducive colors. Later, I put the bars away (when he didn't care for the black/white pattern any longer) and he just plays with the toys on their own, while I use the pillow for nursing/bottle feeding again. I will admit that I didn't use the pillow for nursing so much for that month that he enjoyed using it as a prop to play with the toys, because I was too lazy to take the bars on and off every time he needed to be fed. But if you travel a lot, and plan to do so from the first week your baby is born, it's a great travel piece as it has the comforts of a feeding pillow coupled with the toys needed to entertain your infant, and it all fits nicely in the original bag. I figured that it must be about $5 more for this one in lieu of the pillow itself, which is worth the three toys you receive with the 5-in-1, as your child will like the toys (made by SASSY) for some time (my son is six months old and still plays with the toys). If you're not so interested in the 5-in-1, then at least get the boppy pillow... and you're back will thank you for it!
Customer Review: Not All Its Cracked Up To Be Summary: 1 Stars
I first used the 5-in-1 system just for the Boppy pillow. It is a very convenient and comfortable way to nurse. However, I would not recommend using it to sit small infants in. The inner circle of the pillow is too big to really support them and they tend to slide down into crunched or crooked positions.Probably the most alarming part of this product is the hazard when removing the support arches that hold the toys. I pulled these "arms" out of their bent position in the plastic bag and one of them snapped back and hit me in the eye. It hurt so bad, I had to sit down for a while and I eventually developed a headache. I was extremely upset because I could have been holding my baby at the time and it could have injured him instead. There was no visible warning from the outside of the bag about removing these arches. When I removed the instructions that were located on the inside of the ad panel, I saw a small "caution" about removing these springing arms (nothing I could have read before I actually took them out of the bag!!!) Therefore, REMOVE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! Also, they don't give you enough hanging extenders to use for all the toys if you have to hang them low enough for a small infant. If I had known about the hazards and inconvenience of this product before, I would have saved some money and bought the pillow by itself, then bought a better play-gym later.
Customer Review: fun for baby, great for mom... Summary: 5 Stars
my husband loved this at first sight but I didn't register for it... thankfully, a friend got it for us as a shower present! Not only is it cute but it's really versatile. I only used it as a nursing pillow for the first month, while my son was having trouble latching on. Instead of worrying about having a cover for it, I just folded a receiving blanket in half and put it between my son & the pillow to keep it clean from baby leaks. These days it's a great source of entertainment for my 12-week-old son: the only way to get him to do tummy time without getting frustrated and a great "gym" for him to bop toys with his arms or legs. If you get this, just remember to rotate where the toys hang from to keep it interesting, and buy a few extras for variety (I've added a Sassy Smoochie Poochie to the gym and also use the toys from his Fisher Price Infant to Toddler Rocker). If I'd known how much use I'd get out of this, I would've definitely registered for it. However, if you want this primarily as a nursing pillow, get the plain Boppy instead -- I agree with previous reviewers that it's cumbersome to add & remove the hanging bars.
Customer Review: My daughter loves it! Summary: 5 Stars
There are several things I love about this product:1 - After having a c-section, it was hard for me to hold the baby close to me, she kept pushing into my stomach. The boppy made it so much more comfortable to hold her those first few days! 2 - Some days, my shoulder and arms kill me from holding her, this makes feedings easier. 3 - She loves the toys. She bats at them when she is in it. The "bars" that attach are easy to remove and replace. 4 - My daughter loves to be on the floor. We watch Baby Mozart all the time. This is like a mini recliner for her, she lounges in it while watching her show! 5 - Tummy time! She gets less frustrated when she is on her belly with the pillow underneath her. 6 - When I place my daughter (she's almost 4 months) in the sitting up position, it supports her. She is all proud that she is sitting up! Once she gets tired of sitting, she scoots down to lay flat on the floor and rolls around. I've washed the boppy several time (drool!), it washes up great! The pattern seems to get brighter with every wash. I can't say enough about this! Get a BOPPY!!!!
Customer Review: A Must Have for Every Parent!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
My mom (a lactation consultant) gave us this before our angel was even born. We love it. It is definately a must have for every breastfeeding mom- and every couch potato dad. My husband holds her for hours while watching the game(s). I even take it in the car when we go out for the day- it is so easy to feed the baby in the back seat with the boppy pillow- second only to home. And if you have a baby like ours who loves to sleep in your arms or on your chest, you'll save your arms with this pillow, not to mention your back when nursing. I have also taken dozens of pictures of her in it, awake, asleep, a few days old and three months old, on her back and on her tummy- they all turn out great. And she loves the toy bar, the toys w/links are detachable, buying separately would be $10-15 alone. Definately worth the money.-Only down side, I wish it came in a different pattern. But a slipcover fixes that in a sec and is much easier to clean. PERFECT BABY SHOWER GIFT, between this and the Diaper Genie, I don't give clothes (that are quickly outgrown) anymore.
