Toys and Games Reviews of Bontempi - Saxophone

Customer Review: Takes effort to play, but it's inspiring
Summary: 4 Stars

My little guy (who was two at the time) likes musical instruments of all sorts. So I got this for him as a surprise treat. He loved it, but couldn't play it because you have to press the buttons and blow it at the same time. I figured this out (there were no instructions) and showed him how to do it. Next, he had trouble blowing hard enough to get a sound. But because he liked it so much, he tried and tried until he got it right. He feels really good about it, which is why I said it was inspiring. After that, it may take a while before he could play a tune. But he plays his own make up tunes on it. The instrument itself is lightweight, plastic with a silver coating. It's very shiny and attractive. For the price, I wouldn't mind getting another if this one gets beat up. I think one should keep it away from young babies though who might try to bite it. The red mouthpiece also comes off easily.

Customer Review: TERRIBLE!!!!
Summary: 1 Stars

I thought I did my homework, I read the reviews and thought I was getting a toy sax for my 4 year old. I thought this product would be somewhat durable. I wasn't expecting real metal or anything like that. It came in the mail today and I am TERRIBLY disappointed. It is made out of the CHEAPEST plastic you can get. I am sure this is going to break with in a day of my son getting it. The plastic reminds me of the same material as those plastic easter eggs you can get. Anyway, this is not worth even a dollar in my book. I would love to send it back, but this it seems is the only toy sax out there, and my son has his heart set on getting one. I have never written a review for a product on Amazon before, but this is the biggest piece of cr*p, I felt that I needed to.

Customer Review: It is what it needs to be for kids
Summary: 5 Stars

My [...] son loves this saxophone. He got the sax and the trumpet from santa for christmas this year and they are by far his favorite toys. The keys play the different tunes, it's just the right size for a toddler and preschooler, (my [...] daughter loves it too) and it's very light weight. It's hard to say how durable they are since we've only had them a short while. They do seem so light weight that I worry a little how they'll hold up. But so far they seem pretty sturdy and are holding up to lots of use. The only thing I'd tell parents is to be ready to be listening to a lot of loud tooting if they have horn players in their house!

Customer Review: The Has Bins ROCK with their Saxofaux!
Summary: 4 Stars

If you have experienced (are you experienced?) southern California's The Has Bins, then you know the true value of this toy saxophone. Or, should we say, the "Saxofaux" as the Has Bins call it. The perfect addition to jazzy ballads, rhythm and blues, and plain old good time rock and roll!

To see this toy sax played passionately, the way its creators surely meant, check out the Has Bins at their next concert engagement.[...]

Play that funky music, white boy!

Customer Review: Very disappointed - broke right away
Summary: 1 Stars

I, too, thought I had done my homework so I was extremely disappointed when I took this sax out of the box for my son and discovered how cheaply made this toy is. It is an extremely light-weight and flimsy plastic that feels like it could "snap" if you held it too hard. The mouth piece broke the second time he picked it up to play with it. This will end up in the trash tomorrow and I would never buy another Bontempi instrument nor would I recommend one to anyone.
