I bought this for my daughter's 5th birthday. She loves it!
The biggest problem we have with this is finding a dark enough place for it! We ended up using one of the bathrooms. There is a tough balance to find. You need some light otherwise every shadow shows up on it, but too much light and you will see nothing. The included stencils and shaders are nice but tend to be tossed aside when the kid finds them to difficult to use properly. This may be an age thing, but then again I had a problem with them as well.
DO NOT let your child press the 'diamond' tip against the mat or it will scratch it.
Overall this thing is a lot of fun but tears up a little too easy for the unsupervised.

I was surprised by the quality of the glow surface and by how well it holds a "charge". We hung the glow station in a dark part of our hallway so we can even play with it during the day. It's been a fun way to use stencils and silhouettes. The glow pen and diamond attachment have a great little slot for storage, and all the stencils have hooks they can hang from, so it's been easy to keep the parts from being lost. I'm looking forward to taking this on a late night car trip - we're going to do some long-distance travelling. My daughter uses both the erasable marker AND the glow pen to creat pictures... It's been fun for a 4yo, but (as with any toy) the novelty can wear off.
I recommend this toy!

Our daughter received this for her fifth birthday and LOVES IT! I have to say that the concept is so simple that I'm amazed they didn't come up with it sooner. We hung it up in her room and it was very easy for her to play with. She kept asking me for an eraser and I had to explain that the designs would fade. [Take note: The toy comes with a dry erase marker. DO NOT LET YOUR CHILD USE IT TO MARK THE SCREEN! You're supposed to use it to mark a plain sheet of clear plastic. the marked up plastic then creates an image/pattern on the screen. We're not going to risk it. The dry erase marker is put away.] I liked how it had built-in storage for all of stencils, plastic sheets, and pieces. Very nice! I would like to thank those reviewers you led me in the RIGHT direction in purchasing this toy. I almost purchased it last night and read how it can be had for much less. That is very true. I was at my local Michael's store right when it opened this morning. There was no need to rush. They had about 20 of them on display and on sale! Like the other reviewer, I was able to get two for under $50. I am so thankful! I am amazed at how the price of this toy has increased as we get closer to Christmas...what a rip off and probably not the best strategy with the economy the way it is. We are smart, thrifty shoppers these days. With regard to the toy, it will be a nice creative tool for my kids.Customer Review: Daughter's new night light

My 7-year-old got this for Christmas, and that night, I hung it on the wall opposite her bed. After I tucked her in and turned out the light, I wrote "Good Night!" in large script and dotted a bunch of stars around it. She loved it and now insists that I do it every night! So for starting a new bedtime "tradition" that makes her eager to get in bed and turn out the light, I give this toy 5 stars. I agree with the others who say that it's best you take the marker away (I use it on our dry erase memo board). Also, the board is folded up in the box and doesn't lay completely flat. It needs to be hung on a wall (otherwise the little stencils fall out) and needs total darkness to work.
