My 5 year old son thought this was so cool. He loved the stencils that came with it, they have a monster, spaceship, snake and lots of other "cool" stencils. The light creates the image on the glow pad, there are also patters you can do, like tire marks and snake skin. You can also draw freehand and there is a diamond like tip you can put on the light that makes star like shapes. The only complaint I would have is that the board gets scratched easily but it doesn't really affect the drawing's or shapes you put on. It takes a bit for the drawings to go away, we just turned the light on for a few and told my son it had to recharge it's glow. Overall this is a fun art thing with no mess...that's right mom's, no mess. We bought a small storage tub for him to keep the stencils and pens in and so far so good. Although this product is recommended for 6 yrs old and older, I bought for my 3 year old. She loves playing with the light/glow mat (actually, we both do!). I hung the glow station in her bedroom and am certainly setting myself up to her not going to sleep when it is her bedtime... There is only 1 negative that I can say about the product. It comes with a black dry-erase marker that the instructions clearly state not to draw on the draw mat. The black marker is to be used for making your own stencils. However, it is too much of a temptation to even have the marker with the glow station and risk ruining the glow mat. I took the dry-erase marker away. My daughter won't even know it is missing.... Overall, this is a fun product for the young (i.e. 3 year old) and the nearly old (me) - worth hours of play time.Customer Review: IMAGINATION AT WORK!

I purchased 3 of these for my granddaughters (5,7 and 9) last Christmas and they had so much fun! They decided to just put the special board on the floor (instead of hanging the board) then turned off the room's light and turned on the pen. They were just giggling and drawing different things on the board and the stencils are just wonderful, they used the diamond tip for the stencils. The girls became more creative and decided to use anything they can find to create the shadow on the board. They did their hand prints, foot prints and other toys. The concept of this toy is great and truly sparks the imagination. My granddaughters still play with this toy -- worth the money! Another thing I liked about this toy is that it is clean -- no accidental writing on the wall or floor.Customer Review: Buyer beware - Not worth your heard earned money!!!

I had high hopes for this product, but I think Crayola seriously needs a parents panel. First off - I have small fingers yet I fumbled repeatedly trying to get the tiniest screw ever off of the battery compartment for the wand. It was ridiculous and not even using my new electric screwdriver made it easier. Then putting it back on - what a joke. Who designs this stuff? My five year old was so excited to start and then looked at me frustrated as the glowing image faded after 4 seconds. Hmmmm - I look forward to seeing a product revision here. Great idea, but really - this much money for this little of a thrill? I wouldn't get it if I were you !!!! I'd take it back if I didn't have to ask my sister-in-law for a gift receipt and risk hurting her feelings. Buyer beware!Customer Review: Artistic Fun In The Dark

"Crayola" has been around since 1885 (then known as `Binney & Smith'), so you know they understand kid's toys. The `GlowStation' says it for ages 6 to 15, but I can easily see younger kids enjoying this cool gift. Like a glowing `canvas' kids can use the battery powered `wand' of light to create their own shapes, designs and drawings. The kit also contains stencils, tracer shapes and stencil sheets. Its fun in the dark, and as kids create glowing drawings, they can watch them as they slowly fade away over time - magically. Creativity is only limited by your child's imagination. This is a great start for kids who are artistically inclined. Not for everyone, but if your child likes to draw on the walls, this is a much better option.
