Customer Review: Shame on me...again

Just bought the item over the weekend, the reviews were mostly positive, so I thought it would great present for my 5yr old nephew.
I happened to be browsing in a Toys-R-US store in my home town, and there it was!....[...] ([...] less than Amazon had it listed). I thought it was bit strange as Toys-R-Us lists toys on Amazon...but not this toy.
After contacting customer service at Amazon about what they might be able to do to help, they basically stated they were not responsible for the prices on their website or other websites (hmmm, I should try that line on my customers).
...the shame on me refers to a bad experience I had two holiday's ago, shipment of a broken toy (which I obviously don't blame them for), but the process in handling my complaint but an off shore support group (who still does it today) left a bad taste in my mouth.
...so, sorry Amazon, I'll just drive down to Toys-R-Us from now on

I purchased this item for my son for Christmas. I ordered it from Amazon because I was unable to find it in any local store. I could not believe how flimsy it was--just a piece of vinyl that was so curled up it would not lie flat, although we repeatedly followed the manufacturer's instructions for removing the curl. It is made to hang on the wall, but it was so curled that there was no way to play with it while it was hanging, since it wasn't flat. Also, after only a few uses, the film was terribly scratched. My son is not hard on his toys, but this item did not hold up under the gentlest of use. I contacted Amazon, and they allowed me to return it. The toy looked like it would be so much fun, but it was a major disappointment. Besides the fact that it was so flimsy, it also quickly grew boring. Once you have seen the film glow a few times, it loses its fascinating quality. I'm so relieved that I was able to get my money back.Customer Review: We love it!!

I don't get what all the negative reviews are about. We just got this for my 4 yr old son for Christmas, hung it up a couple nights later and it's been a hit ever since. Hubby and I think it's super cool! My son LOVES it, and shows it to everyone that comes over. I haven't had the issue of the drawings fading in 4-5 seconds, just the opposite. When I had my MIL over watching as he drew, she even asked what we had to do to erase it... it just didn't disappear fast like I'm now reading people have problems with! We had no problem installing it either, hubby got out his drill and that was that.
He did take away the dry erase marker before our son was the wiser. I have no clue what it's even for but just the light pen is enough for the kids to have a blast with. Totally worth what I paid. =)
Only problem we have had is that my 2.5 year old LOVES this and now I am on the hunt for another!! ;)

Do not buy this product! I returned ours to the store shortly after giving it as a gift to my children.
We put batteries in great anticipation and was greatly shocked as to just how bright the light emitted from the pen was. I would say it's probably at least as bright as a laser light, and we all know children will either shine it in someone else's eyes or look into it themselves. I think it could easily damage the children's sight.
My fear is that the sight of all the children using this product is being damaged unknown to parents who bought the product with the best intentions. It is a neat idea, but I wonder if this was ever tested. No where in the literature does it mention any danger about the bright light, or say not to look directly at the end of the pen when turned on.
Also the screen that you use the light pen on is very flimsy. Not worth the $[...] I paid!
Customer Review: Had mine for over a year and still going strong

My now 5 year old received this as a gift last fall. We hung it by a nail in our guest bathroom that has no windows. It works very well and I am glad the images don't last as long, despite other's reviews. It lasts long enough to hold a 5 and 2 year old's attention until they are ready to draw the next image. We ditched the stencils and the kids just play with the light pen on the board. The pen has withheld being dropped, kicked, stepped on, and thrown in the toilet and still works. When we have kids over, they all lock themselves in the bathroom and play with it for hours. Maybe a 7-9 year old would get frustrated with the images fading as quickly as they do, but my younger guys have not once complained. Haven't had any quality problems with the "board" either. I WOULD recommend this, and I am giving it as gifts to some of my children's friends this Christmas.
