Customer Review: Go for the travel version instead!
Summary: 2 Stars

This is basically a large sheet of glow in the dark film with hard plastic edges, a light "pen," and a bunch of stencils. I guess you are expected to hang the stencils on the edge of the mat, and leave the mat hanging on the wall, but to me this doesn't seem like the best arrangement. My kids like to play with it on the floor. I don't feel like driving nails in the wall to hang this thing, so we store it all in the box. The whole thing is kind of cumbersome and overpriced for what it is.

My kids like it - but holy cow is it a lot of money for what you get! It's so bendy, floppy, and cumbersome...

My 6 year old got this for his birthday. I also have two toddlers who love it. I know what the age on the box says - but I also have a hard time seeing what about this could be "dangerous." My girls love to draw - on walls. Tables. Floors. Anything. They loved this - and they can draw as much as the want with no mess.

I got them two of the "travel versions" which are much more practical IMO. Sturdier, cheaper, a better size. Smaller. All the pieces store on board. The only thing they lack is the diamond tip the big one comes with.

I don't think the big one is worth the cost but the small ones are fun. A nice change from a magnadoodle type toy, though in most ways a magnadoodle wins. (No batteries, pictures stays put, but can be erased instantly if desired...)

Customer Review: FUN
Summary: 5 Stars

When I saw the commercial for this toy, I immediately wanted one. (I'm 32, but according to the children in the family, I am the funnest big person they know.) After reading a few of the reviews, I was afraid of buying it as a gift for one of the many children on our holiday list -- and now I wish I had bought more.

It's not that the reviews were wrong, it's just that they didn't make a difference to my 5-year old nephew. The image doesn't last very long, but my nephew would have been fine with it disappearing sooner or being able to erase it like on a Doodle Pro. There is a rather annoying sticker on it, but in the craziness of holiday fun, my nephew didn't mind that either. He just kept drawing around it while I patiently peeled away at the evil sticker. My little cousins, 10 and 8 said they would have liked to have one too and my niece, who is 2, was in awe of the images her big brother was making. The stencils that come with it, made for nice scenes (many animal shapes), but they had the most fun writing their names and tracing over their hands. My nephew was very concerned about losing the stencils.

The little sparkle of gratitude in my nephew's eyes like I was the coolest aunt ever felt pretty cool. I still want one for myself.

I will say that this is not for the kid that takes great pride in the drawings they make. It is a nice way to get a hyper kid to sit quietly in a dark room.

Customer Review: We love it
Summary: 5 Stars

A friend bought this for my 4.5 year old for Christmas. Both he and my 2.5 year old love it! We haven't mounted it on the wall yet but with it laying flat on the floor, even the 2-year old can lay out the stencils to make scenes. Mostly he likes tracing his hand and playing with the star tip though. The 4-year old likes using the transparencies and stencils and making really complicated pictures. We haven't had the problem that some reviewers mention about the designs fading too fast. Occasionally they get bored waiting for the images to fade but for the most part, the timing is just about right. The board is pretty big too so when they draw something in one area, there's still room to move on to another area while that picture fades. It does need to be pretty dark for this to work best. I have "blackout curtains" in my boys' room but you might consider mounting this in a closet, bathroom, or dark hallway for best results. My 4-year old also thinks it's cool to crawl under the bed with it and it's the first thing they grab when we build a blanket fort in the living room. My friend got it at Walmart much cheaper than it's listed here but overall we're thrilled with it!

Customer Review: Arrived DOA
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased this as a gift for my grandson. Bulb in stylus arrived DOA, and cant be replaced as far as I can tell. The last three toys that I have ordered from Amazon have been DOA. All were manufactured in guessed it CHINA.

Why is everything made in China? because our wonderful representatives in Washington have forced all manufacturing to be done in third world countries by people that work for 50 cents a week, who I am sure take great pride in what they do.

Future gifts will be made for my grandson will be made by me, with my USA made tools, with USA grown wood and USA made steel, then I know that they will work.

I called crayola and was told that there was a 45 minute wait. What does that tell you? Keep selling Chinese crap crayola, and you too will soon be a thing of the past. Just one more once great American Company that caved in to a short term business plan to maximize profits for greedy investors.

Customer Review: glow station
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of the best purchases I have made for a toy in a long time. My seven year old daughter LOVES this toy. Each night we tell stories in bed, and draw the pictures to illustrate the stories. Then
as we say good night, I write a good night message to her on her glow board. Honestly, this toy has gotten more direct play time since her birthday three months ago than any other toy in her collection ever.
The durability could be better, as the plastic sheet that she draws on does dent and crease permanently if pressed on too hard or bent. On the first day she opened the toy, the crystal attachment for
the pen fell and shattered on the tile. Despite the durability factors, I still highly recommend this toy. It will be a hit for a long time to come, and my daughter is already planning on bringing it with us on camping adventures this summer. The toy keeps her busy on her own as well, and offers a fun, independent activity for her to do when everyone else is busy.
