Toys and Games Reviews of Banzai Titan Blast RocketCustomer Review: Its a BLAST Summary: 5 Stars
I have told all the fathers I know that no self respecting man should be without one of these things.
The package arived in perfect condition (delivered UPS). No damage to any parts. The built in safety features are great. They prevent you from firing the rocket when the base is not level and if the inflatable rocket portion is not inserted in the body of the rocket. I spent 15 minutes trying to figure out why the thing would not fire (during low preasure testing) only to realize that it won't if these two saftey requirements are not met. The rocket sets up quickly and easily and is never failed to blast of each time we squeazed the trigger bulb. I went out with a group of about 7 children ages 5-10 and no one had trouble launching the rocket.
Pros.
- Easy setup.
- Almost foolproof usage.
- Does not require a lot of water for each launch. (we took a 5 gallon aqua-tainer and it lasted hours)
- Kids love chasing down the falling rocket and bringing it back (5 kids at a time) almost as much as launching
the rocket.
- Falls horizontaly so that it lands gently.
Cons.
- Inflatable rocket part takes a bit of time to fill up and deflate.
- Younger kids will tire of pumping it up before it is safe to launch.
- Most of the spray goes straight into the ground and did not result in us getting wet. :(
PS. We also made homemade water rockets for about $10 in parts and some used 2 liter bottles with plans available on the internet. These were also a blast but did not look as cool as the Banzai.
Customer Review: fun but fragile Summary: 3 Stars
We got this on clearance and it is a blast, when it works. I got it to go three times. It is indeed touchy. You need to make sure the water bottled is screwed airtight. Once the launch bulb didn't have enough air in it, so I had to release the pressure and start over again. On the fourth attempt, it wouldn't go, even with full pressure and a big burst from the bulb. Now the base is locked in the launcher and I can't get it to release it to put the thing away!
Update to my previous review -
There are two small air holes (the ends of some plastic tubing) on the inside of the rocket base piece. The tube needs to be inflated enough to block these air holes, otherwise it won't launch. This appears to be a safety mechanism to prevent you from launching it without the tube in it. Last night I tried disconnecting the locked base piece from the launchpad (to put the thing away), and I couldn't do it. Today I plugged these air holes and gave the the bulb a big squeeze and it disconnected (simulating a launch).
Customer Review: Great fun! Summary: 4 Stars
This was a lot of fun to set up and use. It takes a lot of teamwork to fill it to pressure (over 100 pumps) so everyone is sure to have something to do.
Assembly and setup was very easy but the instructions were a little confusing at first, Be sure to read carefully as you are supposed to only inflate the rocket about 1/2 full first.
The only disappointment is that the long body is a large plastic balloon that can easily rip (I wonder what would happen if you fill it with Helium or He/Air? how high could it go), and ours tore when it hit a large rock ledge on the way down (we did get 3 launches). Really recommend to use a large open space.
Oh, and you need about 1 Qt of water per launch. Very easy to use, worked on the first try in all cases.
Customer service will sell you a replacement balloon if the included patch is not large enough to repair the tear, which our was not (it was a large gash).
Customer Review: This thing rocks Summary: 4 Stars
I don't know what everyone's problem has been with this toy, but my kids have loved it. We got it for the 4th of July from Walmart for 30 bucks because it seemed like a better buy than 100 bucks for fireworks. We launched it about a dozen times yesterday and it only failed twice. Both times were my error. Once I didn't seat it all the way and once I only filled it halfway with water. That time it still flew about 30 feet high.
The materials are good other than the stakes, but I just used my own garden stakes instead. It definitely flies as high as it says. It flies well and then turns on it's side for a slow decent and soft landing. The kids enjoyed taking turns pumping and they were all able to successfully use the hand launcher.
Just make sure you actually follow the directions to set it up right and launch it right. This is a fun and easy to use toy. I highly recommend it.
Customer Review: Titan A Bust Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this rocket for my son's Christmas. The rocket did not hold pressure and would not launch. (And yes, I followed the instructions again and again and again.) I contacted the manufacturer and I needed to buy a new base for an additional $17 (with shipping). Note: the warranty is only 30 days from date of purchase, so at Christmas (unless you buy last minute) you probably won't make the warranty if there is a problem. I bought the base and the problem was not solved. The manufacturer told me I needed to return the item to the store that I purchased; unfortantely, Walmart requires the original packaging for a return and we all know what happens to packaging on Christmas morning...gone with the rest of the boxes and wrapping paper. I think you all know where this is going; 1 star is way to generous for this heap headed for the garbage can. Buy hey, if you get one that works...it looks like fun.
