If you are considering purchasing this item to use with the skimboard... you obviously realize that there is going to be a high risk of injury. We only let the children use it with their bodies or the small inflatable rafts. We have lived at our current residence for almost ten years and we have the perfect yard for "Slip N' Slide" like water slides. Before we bought this specific slide I must have purchased 2 to 3 slides every summer and they were not only made out of much thinner material but they were not long enough and would rip easily. I bought this slide at Target about three years ago and it has lasted through three summers being used every week by our children and their friends as well as three end of the school year class parties. The seam ripped at the end of last summer because a heavier boy was walking on it like a balance beam. So we are buying the same item because it is by far superior in comparison the M-A-N-Y previous models we have owned. To all of the people who gave this water slide bad reviews you obviously didn't follow the directions very well. It us not made for adult use. Make sure there are no sprinklers, rocks, bark, landscaping etc that could injure the children or damage the slide. And use common sense with the skimboard (it is not a good idea for most people). Also when you turn the water off, the edges off the slide hold enough water for toddler and pre-school aged children to use it like a shallow pool. (Under constant adult supervision.) It works best for us on a level surface, but we have also used it on a area of yard that has a bit of a hill with no problems. The kids like to rub tanning oil or baby oil on their belly so they are able to slide even faster!
