Toys and Games Reviews of Banzai Sidewinder Falls 09Customer Review: Best Summer Investment EVER!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I wanted an inflatable water slide for my 5 year old son's birthday party. I called around to get rental prices and oh my goodness was it expensive and just for one day! I began looking to purchase on and reading some of these reviews were a bit scary. My husband and I finally decided on the Banzai sidewinder Falls slide. We told ourself that if it were to last only twice, it would still be less than renting one. BEST SUMMER INVESTMENT EVER!! The 1st time (8/22/09# we used this slide was the weekend before our son's party and we really put it to the test. My husband #155 lbs#, myself #130 lbs#, and our 5 yr old all played on it. It was great. We even talked my mother and father in law into trying it out and they are about 250lbs each. Of course they didn't get on it at the same time. My son's bday party was the greatest, we ended up having about 26 kids #ages ranging from 2 - 13)there. We have had this slide up every weekend since (10/14/09). We did notice a seem coming apart at the bottom of the slide, but fixed it with a little bit of fishing line. Were not even going to attempt putting it away in the small little storage bag that it comes with. Reading the other reviews, we've gotten a big plastic container for when we do finally put it away.
Customer Review: Great Slide for Ages 2-12 Summary: 4 Stars
We were fortunate to buy this toy at one quarter of it's original price. For that reason, I feel our kids have gotten full play value out of it in only 3 sessions of use. It accommodated 12 cousins aged 1-10, at the same time! I like the design compared to older models because:
PROS:
(1) Kids don't have to get out of pool to climb slide each time = less grass and debris getting into water.
(2) Two slides - one for little kids, one for bigger kids. No danger of running into eachother at the bottom of the slide.
CONS:
(1) HUGE! As with any slide, it will never fit into their provided storage bag.
(2) Water did leak into the inner inflated portions. Simply had to drain it out the inflater hose when putting it away.
Hubby cannot believe we own such a monstrosity and storage IS a headache, but something that occupies so many children for so many hours is worth it! Please always monitor children on these slides - 5 year old got wedged in a "v"-shape at the bottom of the slide and his head was underwater for a few seconds until he got himself unstuck. He righted himself, but it was still a good reminder to be vigilant in watching!
Customer Review: Fun but.... Summary: 3 Stars
Banzai needs to consider this: Hose water is COLD. VERY COLD. At least, in MN it is. If they want to be able to sell this to MN people, they need to make the pool section able to stand on its own even when the air pump is off. If not, the pool is 1 degree off from ice water and the kids are blue within 20 minutes. The water needs to sit for a day to be warmed up by the sun. I can't leave the air pump on that long.
Our slide actually died this past weekend. We bought it last year and stored it cleaned and folded in our shed. About a month ago it got a big hold which we patched but the handles on the slide crumbled and disintigrated off the slide and then the rest of the slide surface started to turn to powder and fall apart.
Seems after 1.5 summer seasons, the elements have eaten away at the slide. It's a bit spendy for the short life span.
The kids did love it though. They never used the little tunnel slide. Not even the toddlers. The big slide was a HUGE hit. I think they want a real pool now though. Something that can warm up.
Customer Review: FUN FUN FUN!!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
My children are 5 & 7 and they LOVE this slide and pool!!!! We've had this for a little over a week and used it almost everyday!! Clean up is a little difficult, but worth the work. The storage bag is not big enough to store the slide in. Once the slide is folded it is very heavy and difficult to manipulate and put away. The slide takes forever to dry, once everything on top is dry it is important to flip and make sure bottom is dry too. We also put a pool tarp underneath to help keep the slide and pool clean, reducing the mud--it's much easier to clean the tarp. Another drawback that we have addressed is the hard landing at the end of each slide. It empties into the pool, which is not padded, and the landing can be very painful. To fix this dilemma we put several play mats at the end of each slide, underneath the pool. This helped a lot, no more sore bums!!! On a lighter note, my kids are entertained all day and exhausted by bedtime. This product seems very sturdy and safe--with proper parental supervision. A definite recommendation for serious summer fun!!!
Customer Review: SO DISAPPOINTING! Summary: 1 Stars
We just got his on Friday for my daughter's 8th birthday. We were all SO EXCITEd especially after researching them for a few weeks. We set it up precisely according to directions and took a few test runs-seemed awesome. We set it up yesterday for the party. we had about 8 kids 8 and under on it for an hour. The seam at the bottom of the slide blew and it was all over. I can not tell you how disappointing this was to the kids and to me. This looked like the coolest one out there even with a baby slide for toddlers to keep my nephew entertained and a wading people for those that aren't ready for a slide. Naturally it's the weekend so I have no idea what the company will say-they provide an 800 number and write all over the paperwork that you can NOT return it to the retailer once it is open-you have to go directly through them. In the meantime, we would like another one but I doubt I will go with Banzai brand again. My neighbor has one by six flags and this is her second summer using it. The funny thing is she said ours looks more sturdy. Go figure.
