Customer Review: Major Waste of Water

This toy was an awesome find for the kids last summer, the one major gripe I have is that it wasted SO MUCH WATER! If the pool somehow cycled the water from the pool area down the slide or allowed for the pool/ wading are to be filled with the slide deflated, then it would be so much better. We live in the DFW area where we have strict water consumption rules in the summer and this pool was in no way made to be friendly towards our water bill. Plus, with the hose continually hooked up to the product for the slide jets to work, the pool eventually overflows and the ground around the play area would be just soaked - and ripe for mosquitoes. We crumbled Mosquito Dunks all around the slide area
I gave this product a 4 for durability, because after the big kids got to the slide... jumping off the side and whatnot, the seem in the slide area became loose - making the entire structure hard to keep air in. I am not sure if we will be able to fix it for this year. If the big kids had not abused the product, I think it would have lasted MUCH longer. No doubt this product is fun and kept my 4 year old (and my 5 year old nephew) busy all summer - she would wake up and be headed out to the back yard, lots of times just floating in the pool area. The water in the pool area is deep enough that I made her keep at least a ring or arm floats on her at all times - she could easily stand up, but if she had fallen in such a way that she bumped her head - she could have also been completely submerged. I had a newborn at the time and could not be right out there with her, so I was inside - with the pool in my line of sight - and the door open so I could hear her, and I felt comfortable letting her play on her own, but only with the backdoor open. In other words the water is deep enough to warrant some extra caution, but not so deep as to require you to be right on top of your child at all times... so long as your child is able to follow basic safety rules and has confident footing on and in the product, then they should be fine. My 5 year old nephew has basic swimming skills and was not required to wear arm floats or a ring.
