Toys and Games Reviews of Banzai Cannonball Splash Water SlideCustomer Review: Not durable: watch out for trouble spots Summary: 2 Stars
First of all, knowing that Banzai is not a quality brand like Whammo, I knew that there could be a durability problem with this slide. Still, after only two afternoons of use on the same weekend, being used by only five children who were within the age and weight limits, I did not expect it to get ruined so soon. It appears that some of them stepped on the blue inflatable "pillow" that forms the bottom of the slide, but is within the pool part. That was all it took to rupture it on the seams in several places, so that it cannot be fixed. Toyquest is sending me a replacement part, however, so it is not a total loss. They require only a fax or scan of my receipt (from a Target store).
I'm posting this so that other parents might avoid the inconvenience. Yes, it is a fun slide and kids love it. You have to watch them like a hawk, though, if you want the thing to last more than one use. And at $40 I think we expect more than one or two afternoons of splashing around. If you see a kid step/jump/stomp on any inflatable part (especially the pillow/wedge that is partly underwater in the pool floor), stop them immediately and if it's not your kid, throw them the heck out of your backyard. I have spoken.
Customer Review: An absolutely wonderful water slide! Summary: 5 Stars
After reading many negative reviews, I almost didn't purchase this for my daughter. She is 8 years old and tall for her age, so the slip n slide we purchased for her was bruising her knees. This water slide is fantastic. There were no holes or tears in it. She has played with it for 2 hours straight. The slide is durable, but light. It did tip over on her, but nothing happened. The velcro that hold it to the pool came undone 2xs in 2 hours and both times she was accidentally rough. It was so easy, she just put back together herself.
We did use an air compressor, so blowing it up literally took moments. We turned the hose off, and she just dips the plastic body board in the pool if it's dry, so we didn't mind refilling the shallow pool. We also put a tarp under the pool to protect it from the rough ground. I would not recommend this toy for roughhousers or young children. You have to run and jump onto it, or the slide will tip. You have to use the body board for the maximum effect, and it isn't a bounce house. That being said, it is made to stand up to exactly what it is designed for, but it will not tolerate much abuse.
For the price, this toy is just about perfect.
Customer Review: Definitely worth it .. read on ... Summary: 4 Stars
This pool is definitely worth the price. You can easily pay $35 for a family of 4 to get into a water park for one day of fun. (What I paid for this pool ... and actually last year there was a sale for $10 off of it .. so keep your eyes open for sales or coupons.) My pool from last year only lasted one summer, but that is because I didn't take care of it. Yes, it's made of plastic. You can't expect to leave it out in the elements and for it to last for any amount of time. My kids loved it so much. I actually got rid of a hard side pool (hard to store) for this because it is easy to store. They love getting a running start and jumping on their tummies to slide and splash into the pool. They will do it for hours. But when they are done for the day, I drain the pool and carefully drag it into my garage. Just lean it against the back wall. I only had to add some air to the slide once so far. If you leave it out and the wind whips it around your backyard, yes it will hit something sharp eventually and get destroyed. Or the sun and wind damage will affect the plastic. Take care of it and it will last. It is worth it. I have already gotten my monies worth out of it this summer.
Customer Review: Tons of fun!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This was purchased for my daughter who turned 5. She and her 7 and 10 year old sister and her 6 year old friend played with this all day non-stop. In reading other reviews I have to say - first of all it is a blow up toy. They are not made to last forever.
The only problem we had is that the blue "hump" that is where they enter the pool from the slide got a small leak. I patched it but it seems to be flattening again today. Not that it bothered them any.
The velcro where the two connect has never slipped even once. The slide tipped once or twice when we first set it up, but it was on a slight hill so they moved it for a future set up.
They had such a blast on this pool. They used it with and without the boogie board - making up all their own ways to slide. They just love it.
It is sturdy enough for a bigger kid but probably would not be much fun for them and would deflate easier I think. Ours has been set up with non stop use for 3 days now and is still looking fine.
As I said - it is a blow up toy - if you are expecting it to last forever buy something more expensive and durable.
Customer Review: Worth the money!! Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this slide for my daughter's 9th birthday party. There were 10 kids and they all seemed to have a great time. My daughter has enjoyed playing on the slide many times since her party and it is still holding up after 4 weeks of fun. To give you a weight idea, she weighs 67lbs. However, the inflatable boogie board started leaking after the 1st use at the party. My daughter has a foam boogie board she uses with it and it seems to do just fine.**You have to keep a check on the air pressure to prevent tearing the slide up. Like anything else inflatable, when outside it tends to deflate ever though there is no hole. I usually check and reinflate once a week. If you consider the price of a standard slip n slide and compare the two, I think this slide is OK for the price. Me and her dad were skeptical after setting this slide up, but the kids enjoyed it. We were afraid it would be "cheesy" but remember things look smaller to us now that we have grown up so I'm sure it looks bigger to the kids than it does to us.
