I gave this to my nephew for his 4th birthday a couple days ago. We've only just started the process, but he is completely in love with it. I was concered because it was recommended for older children, but after reading other reviews I felt comfortable giving it to him.
He is ecstatic every time his digging uncovers a new bone. And the great thing is that it is teaching him to be patient. This isn't a toy with instant gratification...he worked on it several times throughout the day yesterday and has only uncovered a few of the bones. And the great part is he didn't lose interest, he kept coming back to it.
My only warning on this product is that it is extremely messy. The little rocks that you're chipping away at fly all over the place. I'm definitely planning to get him the other three dinosaurs they have, but will wait until summer when he can make the mess outside :)
