Toys and Games Reviews of Action figures 202 pieces with American, British, German & Japanese (WII) model 522

Customer Review: Good mix of figures
Summary: 4 Stars

Here is a good one-stop shopping bucket for many poses of toy army men. The figures are made by the HingFat toy manufacturing company of China. There are 4 nationalities each in its own color, and at least 12 poses per nationality. You get a good variety and a good quantity for the price.

Those of you who remember Louis Marx and Company army men will be disappointed in these knock-offs. Although many of the poses will be familiar, in reality these figures are slightly smaller and less detailed than the Marx figures. They are also molded of a harder plastic that will snap more easily than the classics. You can see lots of sprue twists and mold lines in the figures. Sculpts are not very crisp. Some of the poses are slightly out of scale as if the molds were acquired from different sources.

Historically speaking there is good and bad here. At nationalities at least have proper national weapons. You also gotta love the national stereotypes: the Brits have a bagpiper, the Japanese have a sword wielding officer, one of the Germans looks much like Rommel. Many poses are familiar from famous photos. On the other hand, the German army has a Bundesrepublik Deutschland flag, U.S.A has a 50 star flag.

Kids young and old will certainly love the set as they are colorful, varied and plentiful. I have not yet tested these items with pyrotechnics or flame.

Customer Review: Realistically molded - A good representation of the 4 countries
Summary: 5 Stars

When I bought this toy for my son, I thought initially it might just be the same molded plastic soldiers for all of the four countries, with the exception of the color of the plastic. I am happy to report that I was wrong. The four countries' soldiers represented here (Germany, Japan, USA, and UK) are rendered the way they might have actually looked in WW2. The German soldiers are molded in gray, and have the signature Stahlhelm helmets and the distinctive gas mask cases, the British soldiers (molded in yellow) have the distinctive soup-dish helmets and their machine gunners appear to have Bren guns, the Americans are correctly armed with M3 Grease guns and garand rifles, and the Japanese have officers with samurai swords.

As to the level of detail - well, they're plastic molded soldiers. They were meant to be played with by children, so they're not collector quality renderings with sharp detail. There's the usual leaky-mold-with-rough-plastic-edges common with these types of toys, and the overall detail is pretty rudimentary. You wouldn't even paint these and put them in a diorama, but for my 5-year-old son, he loves them.

Customer Review: Colors are not as advertised and can't tell them apart.
Summary: 1 Stars

Product description says: "Great set of Plastic Army Men in 4 colors with lots of different WW2 figures with over 40 poses. American GI's in Green, British Commandos in Yellow, German in Gray, Japanese in Light Green."

Well, there are no yellow soldiers in this container. There are green, grey, and pink. There are supposed to be two different colors of green (Americans and Japanese?), but all the green colors are identical. This makes it much less fun to play with. How hard would it be to make four distinct colors for chrissake?! Yellow, green, gray, and navy blue for example? Or at least make the light green very light, like a pea green. Quite a disappointment. The whole point is to have four different armies, but the purpose is defeated when you can't tell which army is which. I notice some of the green guys are playing the bagpipes, so I assume those are the Brits? As for the rest, now I have to research WWII guns and whatnot to figure out which army is which. I'm not a WWII aficionado (obviously), and only got these for my young son. So I was hoping they would be four distinct, color-coded armies as described.

Customer Review: My 6 yr old LOVES these!!
Summary: 5 Stars

My son has hundreds of army men literally!! I was online searching for decorations to decorate his new room in an "army theme" when I ran across these figures. I had already purchased enough to get the free super saver shipping so I added them to my cart even after swearing I would NEVER purchase another army man!! I am so glad I gave in!! He LOVES that there are 4 different nationalities included. He is 6 and can rattle off details about the Germans guns and the British suits it amazes me!! I guess these are the comparable "Barbie" for boys. My son's only complaint is that the American men are a tad bit larger than the other three nationalities. Other than the Toy Story bucket of Army men these are the only ones that ever get put back away correctly! I am thrilled with my purchase and I would definitely purchase these again and I would recommend them for any boy who is into Army men!!

Customer Review: My boys like this toy - what more is there to say?
Summary: 5 Stars

Observations:
1. Quality and Durability - having purchased various bags of garage-sale "army guys" I can honestly say that these are very nice. The bases are wide enough that they stand up well even on berber carpet. The plastic is fairly thick and will not break under normal use. Of course if they get stomped on a concrete floor - that's a different story.
2. My kids really like the variety - 4 different armys in one container.
3. Kids interest - My 3 1/2-year old girl isn't interested. She likes Barbie. My 3 boys (ages 3 1/2, 5, and 10) play with these toys a lot. The 3 1/2 and 5 year old boys play (literally!) for hours setting up battles. My 10-year old boy will even steal a few every now and then for a skirmish here and there.
4. Parent appeal - my wife and I love these toys. No batteries. Durable. Reasonably priced. Easy to store.
