The picture does not do this little fellow justice. It's the softest, cuddliest thing I have ever seen. I love to just pick him up. Although it seems to be very well constructed, I do not know that I would give it to a child who may "tear him up". I'm 61 years old and I get very attacted to things that are this cute, but please don't let my review sway you from buying this. He is just so, so adorable. If I didn't need to start downsizing my house, I would probably consider the whole clan of penguins offered if they were all this cute. Should you purchase this, you will not be sorry! Just remember, you will not be able to put him down. And if you are buying it as a gift, plan on buying two - one for you and one for whomever.Customer Review: Came sewn together improperly

I purchased this stuffed animal penguin as a gift, upon opening the box I knew that something was wrong with it at first sight, but couldn't put my finger on it. After comparing the item picture online, and the product I got, his eyes were sewn in, incorrectly. His left eye was sewn 90 degrees off from where it was supposed to be, and its right eye was about 80 degrees off, so the slits were facing straight up and down, or mostly up and down. I was able to repaint the eyes (as a last minute fix) but was dissatisfied that I needed to try to make any corrections on it at all. So my boyfriend bought me this penguin because he thought it looked cute and wanted to cheer me up. So imagine how hilarious we thought it was when it finally arrived. This penguin honest to god looks evil. His eyes just make him look so mean. I don't even know how to explain it. All of my friends are slightly afraid of the penguin. Maybe I got a weird version, because his eyes don't look the same in the picture as they do on my penguin. I mean, I personally find it hilarious, but if you want a cute penguin, be aware. This toy is nice and soft, with material of the quality I expect for the price. I doubt that it will stand up to an energetic 6-year-old for long, but since I'm giving it to a teenager I doubt that will be a problem.
I'm only giving this 4 stars because of the creepy eyes. You can't see them fully because of the angle of the display photo, but this plushie has weird slit pupils like a lizard or a cat. It's just a slim black slit in the middle of wide white eyes...It makes this toy significantly less cute and significantly more sinister!

We bought the baby after owning several "adult" Emperor penguins by Aurora. They are the best. Plush and soft, without that unpleasant "synthetic" hand-feel. They all survived several machine washings. I would put them in a mesh bag or pillowcase to wash, as one penguin's eyes got scuffed in the washer. I have only one complaint about the baby penguin: the black part of the eye eventually wore or washed off, making him look like he had no pupils, and I had to re-draw that part on with a Sharpee pen - the only reason for less than a perfect rating.
