I didn't expect a realistic prop replica, but I was delighted to see that many of the orignal Wah Chang prop's details were faithfully reproduced in this toy. Even the pivoting, swing-up "sensor array" from the original hand phaser is represented here. Though it won't draw any amazed stares at conventions, this is the toy that all of us original Trekkies dreamt of in the mid-70s.Customer Review: Excellent Star Trek collectible

When I first received this item, I was very surprised by it's great detail and excellent sound & physical effects. I have the same item produced by another manufacturer and THIS one surpasses it in all aspects. I have purchased a few of the "Star Trek Classic Role Play Phaser" for collector's purposes. THIS IS BETTER THAN THE $500 COYLE MODEL. THIS THING LOOKS AND WORKS LIKE THE REAL THING. I PURCHASED TWO OF THEM. I MAY BUY MORE. THEY ARE RARE AND HARD TO FIND. KB TOYS SOLD OUT OF THEM TWICE ALREADY AND CHARGE $24.99. BUY ONE OR ALL YOU CAN FIND, THEY ARE SUPER GREAT. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. What an EXCELLENT toy! This is *exactly* the toy I wanted in 1970 when I was ten years old, the detail is outstanding.My only question is: Who are they making these for? I mean, any kids who watch Star Trek today don't do the Captain Kirk variety. So that means it's all for adults. How weird is that?

One of the best collectible items that the Star Trek toy line has ever come out with, Ive been waiting forever for a OS Phaser with a detachable Hand Phaser Unit.I Expect for all you Toy collectors this to be to hang on to for a while, Ive ordered 3 and just recieved them today.
