The attention to detail is finominal. Everything works even better then the best high priced replicas. 6 setting-1 inactive off, 1 phaser overload setting and 4 additional settings each with its own light sequence and sound. And best of all the phaser 1 easily separates from the phaser 2 and works independantly from the phaser 2. Not to mention a switch to trun the emitter off on the phaser in addition to a setting to brighten or dim the emiter as well. Thank you art asylum for another great replica. Excellent! I got two of these yesterday and I loved them before I had gotten them completely out of the box. Just looking at them I could tell that they were better than their Playmates counterparts. Unfortunately I had to by these from someone off 'eBay' rather than Toys-R-Us. Get stock Toys-R-Us! I can only hope that Art Asylum will follow up by producing a classic Communicator, Tricorder, Next Generation Phaser, Tricorder! I recently purchased the Star Trek TOS Phaser, and I must say I was very impressed. It has a definite advantage over the previous phasers (i.e. Playmates version) that it actually has both type one and type two phasers that separate The sound chip has excellent reproduction of the series sounds and the options are as accurate as the much more expensive models. This would make a great prop or a desk conversation piece. I would recommend this to any Star Trek Fan young or old.Customer Review: pull tab

I purchased this and returned it because I thought it was defective after pulling out the plastic tab and it didnt work. The second one I got did the same thing. (...). By some stroke of luck i got itto work. read prior review and didnt associate the dial on the hand phaser as the thing that would turn this on. very poor documentation. Needless to say mine does work now and it is great. I amin the process of building a display tand for it to put it in my office.Customer Review: Making the Phaser Work

Note to New Owners: Once you pull the "Please remove this plastic tab before use" tab, turning the phaser "on" is not intuitive (at least for my contemporaries and I). You must rotate forward the clear plastic numeric right side dial on top of the phaser one (not the silver left side wheel which serves another purpose). We loved everything about this toy, except our ineptitude at making it work with the tab out. Hope this spares the rest of you some tinkering.
