My daughter loves these babies! She got these dolls when she was 18 months old. They can only be surface cleaned, but there is some magic "baby scent" that persists. The body is made of tiny bean-bag filler beads which gives the doll a good, solid baby-like weight. Great as a first baby doll.
The only complaint I have regards availability. The African-American dolls are only available in select stores. You can't find one in a white neighborhood. Likewise, the white dolls aren't sold outside white neighborhoods. I love that my daughter is "blind" to skin color and embraces baby dolls of all ethnicities. Imagine if all children were given the chance to grow up loving baby dolls of different skin colors. I'm sure the world would spin more gracefully.
