This product did come with instructions, which we followed, and it worked great. It works like an ipod FM transmitter. You need to find a FM frequency with static and it works. The A button is applause, the S button provides a beat and you need to hold down the M button while you sing/talk for your voice to work over the radio. Here's the instructions that came with it:
-In order to be able to play with the wireless microphone you will need to be able to find an open, unused FM radio station between 92 and 106 on your FM radio.
-It is best to turn your microphone on, then fine tune your radio (keep your radio volume rather high)and at the same time press the "M" button on the microphone so that you can keep testing to see if you can hear your voice coming through your radio speakers.
-You should use a radio that you can dial along the stations (instead of seek) so that you can find on that is not being used.
-Once you find the unused station you will be able to hear your voice or one of the sound effects from the microphone coming out of your radio.
This took me about two minutes to do and my daughter was having a blast with the microphone. I live in the Los Angeles area (lots of used radio stations!) and still did not have a problem finding an unused frequency (same as with my ipod transmitter). My daughter's voice comes through very clearly with no static once the M button is pushed. She doesn't need to stand close either...she's been dancing all around the living room.
