Customer Review: Fun Romero Addition for Collectors
Summary: 3 Stars
As someone who has a nice array of Romero zombie figures lined up on my desk, I jumped on the chance to add "Dr. Tongue" to my collection. Right from the opening sequence of "Day of the Dead", this figure showcases the zombie's missing lower jaw and dangling tongue. While the artistry looks pretty close to the zombie in the film, there is something different about the paint job on this one as opposed to other Romero figures. It's lighter and tends to look a little more glossy, giving it a bit of a cartoonish quality when placed next to Bub (from the same movie), the "Land of the Dead" zombies, and the two that were made from the original "Dawn of the Dead". The articulation is on par with the others, allowing him only to move his arms and head. It's just the paint job that seems a little off. Also, the extra detail that was given to Bub isn't quite here either. Bub came with a couple fun accessories such as a bucket of body parts, a razor, and a cassette player, and he was also included with a stand modeled after the wall he was chained to. Dr. Tongue doesn't come nearly as close. I'm not saying he should come with accessories, but the attention to detail in regards to his stand could have been "fleshed out" some.
