Customer Review: Awesome idea, quality not so great

My son is OBSESSED with astronauts and space. His bedroom is decorated in that theme, and he has all the costumes - the blue flight suit, the orange launch/reentry suit, the helmet, boot covers, gloves, etc. Everything is great quality - except the white spacesuit. This is the 3rd, yes THIRD, one that I've purchase for him. Of course it's his favorite, because he wants to walk on the moon some day, so he wears it a lot. However, the material is not durable at all. The blue suit is a thick canvas and has held up so well. The orange suit is also a pretty good quality - kind of a slicker, shiny canvas type material. It has held up well so far, but because of the slickness, I am not sure we won't have problems down the road. But the white one is made of a very thin, almost parachute type material. The first one we had began to fall apart after about 6 months - at the seams. The 2nd one began to fall apart almost immediately. Again, it would pull apart along the seams. Everywhere - the legs, armpits, even the back. I would stitch up the tears immediately, but it was a constant battle. After awhile, it started to fray, so was so hard to fix. My son loves it so much so I went ahead and ordered a 3rd one. My son is not large by any means - he is 4 years old, wears size 3-4 clothing (wears the 4-6 sized suits) and he is very thin (wears slim clothing), so that is not the problem. It's definitely the material causing the issues. It would be perfect if the company would make the suit with the same material as the orange suit - it would definitely hold up longer. So - I recommend it for the fun a young astronaut fan, but beware that it may not last long.
